Special events are held at the La Jolla Community Center year around. We plan a number of additional social events for members and guests to meet, socialize with others and have fun, including visits to local restaurants and other places of interest.

Valentine’s Day Latin Concert

Enjoy the romantic stylings of Peruvian vocalist Ossie Arciniega surrounded by many of the best Latin musicians in San Diego. This fundraising concert will also feature folklore singer Lorena Guzman, Eunice Fidawi, who brings the most passionate interpretation of romantic boleros and Italian Tenor, Rosario Monetti, who uses his beautiful voice to sing romantic themes with ease. Also featured are Kevin Moraine on bass, Puerto Rican Conductor and accordion player, Eduardo Reyes and AJ Arciniega on percussion.

Friday, February 14, 7-9pm. Doors open at 6:30pm.

The Musical Legacy of an African Empire:Kora Music from Senegal

A native of Senegal, West Africa, Amadou Fall comes from a family of musicians. Amadou has been playing the kora, a plucked, 21-stringed instrument made of fishing line, wood, a calabash gourd, and cowhide, for over 20 years. He has performed extensively in Africa, including concerts with West African artists such as Baba Maal, Fatou Lowbe, Ibrahim Ba, Djembe Rhythm, Irene Tassembedo. His international tours have included visits to France, Belgium, Italy, Hungary, England and more. He has several albums to his credit, recorded with musicians from around the globe.
