The San Diego County criminal justice system will be the focus of the Peer Learning Collaborative for May in collaboration with the League of Women Voters. Here is a chance to learn how the county is working to address the related problems of homelessness and mental health as well and the

additional mental health challenges our law enforcement officers face every day.

 

Thursday, May 7: The San Diego League has done a careful year-long study of the San Diego County jails and will share their findings on Concerns and Conditions in the County Jails.

 

Thursday, May 14: Eric Frank, Clinical Director of the San Diego County Mobile Crisis Response Team will explain the work the MCRT is doing for those in crisis without the intervention of law enforcement The aim is for compassionate, recovery-centered interventions.

 

Thursday, May 21: Wes Albers will talk about the work of PERT, the County Psychological Emergency Response Team, which teams mental health experts with specific patrol units for calls about individuals who are a threat to themselves or others. Having clinicians working with law enforcement allows on the spot assessment and additional tools for de-escalation.

 

All the sessions run from 3-4 pm at the La Jolla Community Center, 6811 La Jolla Blvd.

There is no charge for Community Center members and $20 for non-members but please register on the Center website.
